Pets Found in Local Animal Shelters to Benefit Thanks to Justfoodfordogs to the Rescue
Newly Formed Nonprofit To Be Funded by Fast Growing Innovator of Whole Food Movement For Pets.
- Orange County, CA (1888PressRelease) June 20, 2018 - Situated in scores of Pet Food Express stores throughout the Bay Area, JustFoodForDogs has established a nonprofit dedicated to continuing its mission of protecting vulnerable pets found in shelters. JustFoodForDogs is the inventor of small batch, human-grade food that is “fit for human consumption but nutritionally balanced for pets. The newly established nonprofit, JustFoodForDogs To The Rescue, will work directly with local shelters in their efforts to find pet parents for discarded animals, underwrite the costs of veterinary care for abandoned and injured pets, offer rewards to identify and prosecute animal abusers and provide other forms of care typically too cost prohibitive for these organizations.
“JustFoodForDogs has enjoyed a reputation for developing an alternative to commercial brand kibble in favor of high quality food that aims to improve the health and length of life for as many of them as possible,” said company founder Shawn Buckley. “What is less known is that we work closely with many shelters in our coverage areas to help them fulfill their missions of helping vulnerable pets. JustFoodForDogs To The Rescue is the formalization of our ongoing efforts.”
Buckley said that the shelters they support do not necessarily need to be large rescues.
“We are looking to partner with highly organized rescue organizations that have proven successful in placing pets into loving and caring homes,” said Buckley.
According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), approximately 6.5 million household pets enter U.S. animal shelters each year (3.3 million dogs and 3.2 million cats). Of those, 1.5 million are euthanized.
