Petoji's Hybern8 Dog Bed Reaches 74% Kickstarter Goal On Day One
The Hybern8 dog bed reached 74% of its goal on day one - HYBERN8 delivers on the promise of hyper-customization.
- (1888PressRelease) April 06, 2017 - FORT WORTH, TX - Fort Worth-based company reaches 74% of its funding goal on Kickstarter on day one, a rare feat in the world of crowd-funding.
Projects must capture momentum in order to reach the widest possible audience. Unfortunately for most projects, that momentum is difficult to generate. Only 36% of campaigns on Kickstarter get funded, but if a campaign gets 30% of its goal in the first week, its success rate is 90%.
Because raising funds relies on convincing many people to support a project, crowdfunding has been called a "democratic" way to raise capital.
"A project only succeeds if people personally support it," says Jenny Simpson, co-founder of Petoji. Statistics show that the average Kickstarter backer pledges $24.
While some crowd-funded projects gain popularity for offering unusual technical innovation, the Petoji team relied on the idea that people want functional and beautiful design. "Some dog beds are clearly designed to appeal to their owners because the dogs never touch them," Jaclyn Jacobson, one of the designers of Hybern8, said. "Some are comfortable for the dog, but are ugly enough that people don't want them around."
Aside from good design, Petoji promises to deliver on a unique trend in product development that has come to be known as hyper-customization. That is when a company makes a product to a customer's specific requirements.
"Some companies make it look like they are delivering customization by just having a lot of choices," says Ms. Jacobson. "That is a really inefficient way to manage a business because it means storing a lot of inventory. And, you still have a lot of customers who don't get exactly what they want. We think hyper-customization is a better way."
People obviously agree. The Petoji project is funding quickly, by any standards.
