  • West Palm Beach-Boca Raton, FL (1888PressRelease) November 19, 2011 - The Penn State abuse story brings up the question of how a survivor finds the support he needs and then goes on to build his life after trauma. This week, RAINN speaker, Patrick McDonald, a survivor himself, speaks about both of these issues. Patrick will share how being a victim of abuse doesn't mean you can't live a fulfilling life and how getting support is critically important to rebounding from the abuse.

"No matter what trauma you survive, the question of how will I get through this and then what will my life be like comes up in the mind of every survivor. This week's Penn State subject is a great time to bring those questions front and center and here, from a survivor himself, how he successfully answered them. The conversation will lay the foundation for survivors everywhere to make decisions and take actions that answer those questions in their own lives," says Michele Rosenthal, host of Your Life After Trauma.

Also on the show this week: The holidays are coming up and for many survivors that means a host of triggers are headed their way. Finding the coping strategies that work best for you might be the best gift you give yourself this year. Social media expert Louise DiCarlo will tell us how to use social media to destress over the holidays, and one survivor, Teresa Joyce explains how she is fighting her way to recovery.
