Pen Bay Medical Center Prepares for ICD-10 with Libman Education's Custom "Grow Your Own Coder" Program
Program includes model of progressive learning and is customizable to an organization's particular needs.
- (1888PressRelease) September 18, 2015 - Pen Bay Medical Center, a Leapfrog Group 2012 and 2014 National Top Hospital and the largest community hospital in Midcoast Maine, is preparing a large number of its coders for the upcoming ICD-10 deadline with Libman Education's Grow Your Own Coder - Mentoring and Progressive Skills Development™ program.
"This program has been very helpful in preparing us for the ICD-10 deadline," said Elizabeth Hilchey, RN, CPHQ, RHIT, Director, Health Information of Pen Bay Medical Center. "Through it, we were able to hire individuals with an interest in coding but not necessarily any coding experience. The training process was smooth and integrated into their normal work. Grow Your Own Coder includes a model of progressive learning to ensure coders develop the knowledge and real world experience necessary to perform their job to an organization's standards. It provides for in-house coder training that allows organizations to simultaneously keep coding staff in production.
Customized to an organization's particular needs, the program provides skills assessments and a learning path specific to each coder.
