Paul Savramis Announces Rising Star Youth Foundation Upcoming Events
The founder of the Rising Star Youth Foundation recently announced the organization's upcoming youth programs including camps, clinics, and tournaments.
- Albany-Schenectady-Troy, NY (1888PressRelease) October 02, 2012 - Paul Savramis, who founded Rising Star in 1996, has announced a new line of youth activities that will take place at Long Island Lutheran High School. Rising Stars Youth Foundation outreach director Paul Savramis described the 2012 initiative as a natural progression stemming from a relationship that the two programs have built over the years.
Describing the relationship and the direction he saw the two programs were working toward, Paul Savramis stated, "LuHi (Long Island Lutheran) is the perfect partner for all of us at Rising Stars to have. As a youth foundation, you can't ask for a better fit than a school like LuHi. It balances academics and athletics in the same way that we do."
"Over the years the school has had great success both on and off the court and has been home to many legendary athletes," noted Paul Savramis in his August 2012 statement. Most recently, said Paul Savramis, the school has won back to back New York State championships and has added an elementary school, LuDay, to its middle and High School offerings. Paul Savramis was enthusiastic as to the partnership's future. "LuHi is more than just a school; it is also home to the largest summer camp roster in the country, offering 36 different camp programs and enrolling thousands of children over eight weeks."
According to Paul Savramis, it was a natural fit for Rising Stars to take charge of the summer's elite basketball sessions. Those sessions, run by Rising Stars executive director Dan Gimpel, have sold out over the past three years. The relationship between the two programs has also included another Rising Stars partner, the New York Knicks. Paul Savramis points out that the Knicks, along with Rising Stars, have hosted a number of events at the school and continue to work with them to expand the programs.
''Having the Knicks with us in this venture has been great," Paul Savramis said, adding that "they are a key component in Rising Stars' efforts to reach children throughout the year. We have had father/son days with Knick Legends like Allan Huston, Walt Frazier and John Starks. And, this summer the Knicks brought the Knick City Kids to do a show for our summer camps!"
LuHi headmaster Dr. David Hahn agreed that the partnership is a special one and that it has exceptional synergies. ''Paul Savramis' Rising Stars Youth Foundation shares the same core values that we emphasis here at Lutheran, balance being the key. We all agree that a complete individual is the goal and I see Rising Stars as the perfect partner in achieving that objective.''
The partnership looks to expand in its objectives. According to Paul Savramis, it has begun by the enrollment of Rising Stars foundation children in the school and camps as part of an ongoing scholarship program.
Paul Savramis concluded, "The best way to show the thinking behind all of this is shown on the back of this summer's shirts at the 2012 Rising Stars camps. It is a picture of hands linked together in circle with the word T.E.A.M (Together Everyone Achieves More).''
Paul Savramis is a nationally known youth programming enthusiast and developer. His Rising Stars program has been acclaimed for its excellence and service to the community and received a 2003 Presidential acknowledgement.
