Loi Krathong this year was no exception, with a full house at the hotel in Pattaya over the preceding weekend, and plenty of great guest feedback.

Loi Krathong was held on Monday, November 2nd, which meant that the preceding weekend was busy for Mercure Pattaya hotel.

"We very much enjoys the festival weekends, like Loi Krathong recently and Oktoberfest before that", remarked Mr. Nicholas Lerat, Mercure Pattaya's general manager.

"Floating a krathong is meant to indicate good luck, and is a sign of letting go of negativity. According to what we heard from guests over the period, we have certainly achieved that!” Mr. Lerat continued. Several staff at Mercure Pattaya hotel created their own krathongs, and others that were rostered on were able to take a break to help float them.

The Pattaya hotel's restaurants, Ray's Place, M Café and Cappucino were particularly busy over the weekend. "It seems that people want a more relaxed atmosphere in which to eat, and we often have non-residents coming for the food over Lio Krathong", said Mr. Lerat.

One guest from Geneva, Switzerland, who stayed over the weekend preceding Loi Krathong remarked that “The hotel is located outside the "noisy Pattaya" but still not far from the center. This means that you can sleep at night and only have to walk 5 minutes to be "there". I returned there about 5 times since I discovered it and I am always happy to return!".

The main evening event of Loi Krathong in Pattaya was at Bali Hai pier this year. The sale of fireworks and hot air lanterns was restricted this year due to safety concerns, and Mercure Pattaya commended the decision.
