  • Detroit, MI (1888PressRelease) July 08, 2010 - As the health care industry sees ongoing technological advances in medicine, as well and an increase in the longevity of the aging population, the demand for trained health care professionals, such as patient care technicians, is growing, according to the Bureau of Labor and Statistics.* To meet the increased demand, Everest Institute's Dearborn campus is now enrolling for its newest health care training program, Patient Care Technician (PCT).

    The Patient Care Technician diploma program is eight months in length, and includes a 160-hour externship. The program trains students to function as an integral part of a health care delivery team to provide basic patient care under the direction of doctors, nurses and other health care professionals.

    "This program will help the area by fulfilling allied health care positions," says Dearborn campus president, Joe Belliotti. "Our graduates will be prepared for entry-level positions in patient care technology working as: homecare assistants or nursing assistants, in assisted living facilities, long-term care facilities, rehabilitation clinics, physical/occupational therapy clinics, and home health."
