Notus Sports will host the James Monroe 5k on May 17 at Ash Lawn-Highland as a part of ALH's Field Day celebration. The 5k course will provide runners and walkers with access to and exclusive views of areas of the property generally closed to the public. The 5k and field day will benefit the preservation of the historic property.
- Charlottesville, VA (1888PressRelease) May 07, 2014 - Notus Sports and Event Management Group will host the Second Annual James Monroe 5k at 4 PM on May 17, 2014 during Field Day at Ash Lawn-Highland, the home of President James Monroe. Proceeds from the 5k and Field Day will benefit the preservation of the historic property.
Runners, walkers and families are invited to register for the 5k at JamesMonroe5k.com. Registration includes a free tour of the home and two free tickets to Field Day, which runs from 2 to 7 PM and features local favorite food trucks and other vendors.
"We're excited about the 5k not just because the course is so different from other runs in the area," said Jamie Coder, Director of Events at Notus Sports, "but also because there will be so many fun things for everyone happening around the run at Ash Lawn-Highland's Field Day."
What makes the James Monroe 5k different is that it is a more challenging off-road course and runs through exclusive areas of the property. "The course is tough and has a good variety of terrain, but what I love about it most is that it provides you with amazing views of the property that you generally can't experience because they're not open to the public," said Ash Lawn-Highland's Executive Director, Sara Bon-Harper, who often walks the course on her lunch breaks.
Pre-registration is open online between now and Friday, May 16 for $25 for an individual, $20 per person for teams of five or more, and $45 for a family. Last-minute registration will be available on race day at the event for increased rates. Notus Sports will also be offering a limited Mother's Day special May 9 - 11 at Facebook.com/NotusSports.
