Parenstaround unveils multi-device parental-control system
Parentsaround has launched Parentsaround.com, a multi-device parental-control system that is managed via the internet. The system allows parents to supervise their children's usage of PCs, smartphones and Android tablets remotely, via a computer or smartphone. Parentsaround will be at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona (Spain) in late February 2013.

This makes it possible to aggregate and monitor a child's session times across different devices, thereby ensuring that, wherever (and whichever way) he (or she) accesses and uses the internet, the content can be filtered. This makes Parentsaround.com an ideal solution for parents living separately and for parents with children who holiday away from home.
The parental-control solution is equipped with Rapid Host Validation, an innovative technology that has been developed by Parentsaround. This technology, for which a patent has been filed, permits efficient internet filtering by analysing both words and images, as well as categorising websites. The technology also provides filtering rates that are significantly higher than those obtained by rival software products. Indeed, those filtering rates go beyond the standards fixed by standardisation group AFNOR.

After a free one-month trial period, the user can choose between two packages: the ZEN subscription costs €2.99 a month and can be cancelled at any time using the admin control, and the ECO subscription is €29 a year and is payable in full when the order is placed.
Parentsaround also sells its control solution to mobile-telecoms operators who would like to offer this service to their customers. The company offers tailor-made partnership agreements, according to the different financial models adopted by telecoms operators.
During the development phase, Parentsaround's two founders were able to test the suitability of their concept by using a test portal that offered a limited and free version of the time-of-day control function of the software. Without any special promotion, the beta version attracted 10,000 users.
Improper use of the internet without any controls can hinder or harm the balance and development of young people. According to the study released by consultancy firm LH2 for Kelkoo and Hopscotch, on average, children between the ages of six and 13 spend more than an hour a day using the internet, and teenagers spend over 21 hours a week online.
