The company released this article as a response to recent news that wiring money to and from Panama banks is no longer possible.
According to Jackie Lange, the author of the article and Panama Relocation Tours' general manager, she and her friends wire money to and from Panama banks all the time and they haven't experienced any problems so far. Their transactions involve different banks in Panama. Jackie says that wires before noon usually arrive on the same day that they were sent. On the other hand, wires after 12:00 noon arrive within 24 hours. Fund transfers can also be done through online banking.
"I'm not sure where these reports came from but I wrote the article to let everyone know that sending and receiving money through a Panama bank has never been a problem", says Jackie. "I and my friends do this at least once a month and our transactions always come through. Otherwise, we won't be doing it for obvious reasons."
When asked why she thinks these false reports are being circulated, Jackie says this. "The real reason for the false reports, according to my attorney in Panama, is that other companies (and countries) are hoping to create fear so they can steal business from Panama banks and law firms after the Panama Papers scandal broke."
Jackie states that the Panama papers scandal was different. "The Panama Papers are an unprecedented leak of 11.5m files from the database of the world's fourth biggest offshore law firm, Mossack Fonseca based in Panama but with offices in more than 40 countries. They set up offshore entities all over the world."
Jackie's article also states that there is one Panama bank that cannot transfer or receive wires and that is the Balboa Bank & Trust, Corp. This bank has also put on hold any deposits and withdrawals effective May 5, 2016. Details can be found on the Balboa bank website.
