Panalytical Boulder Invites Remote Sensing Graduate Students To Apply To The 2015 'Goetz Instrument Support Program'
Students will be awarded advanced spectroradiometers to enhance novel and unconventional research projects.
- Boulder, CO (1888PressRelease) April 22, 2014 - PANalytical Boulder, the global leader in high-performance NIR analytical instrumentation and material analysis solutions, is now accepting submissions for the 2015 Alexander Goetz Instrument Support Program.
"This year's Goetz supported research winners are currently pursuing technically innovative research projects for a range of applications," said Dr. Brian Curtiss, CTO of PANalytical Boulder. "Each year, the Goetz program receives worldwide submissions from student researchers eager to use NIR instrumentation to develop their unique projects. This year we expect to see topics that expand traditional applications within remote sensing."
Selected students pursuing a master's or doctoral degree with innovating research proposals will be awarded a FieldSpec® 4 Standard-Res spectroradiometer or a FieldSpec HandHeld 2 spectroradiometer for a specified period of time. Both instruments are known for outstanding performance and portability. The spectroradiometers can be used by the students for a wide range of field research applications such as image interpretation, ground truthing, materials classification and ecological impact analyses.
Applicants to the Goetz Instrument Program must be attending an accredited college or university in any country where Carnet documentation for shipments is accepted. Each recipient is eligible for up to $500 to cover the cost of publication fees (if the resulting paper is accepted for publication in a scientific journal) and/or travel assistance for the presentation of an accepted abstract at a relevant scientific conference. The program organizers also request the participants provide PANalytical Boulder with a short summary of their research and results, which will be shared to help promote the program.
Proposals for the 2015 program are due Oct. 15, 2014. Proposals do not need to be of immediate practical application or have a guarantee of success. Priority will be given to proposals that creatively bridge multiple disciplines. An interdisciplinary review committee will carefully assess each submission to make final selections. Accepted students will be announced in December 2014.
