Pamela Galligan Joins Mercury Payment Systems as Chief Compliance Officer
Galligan has more than 30 years of significant achievement as an executive and expert in global electronic payment services and information technology.
- Denver, CO (1888PressRelease) March 19, 2014 - Mercury Payment Systems, a leading payments technology and services provider for small- and medium-sized businesses (SMBs), has announced the appointment of Pamela Galligan as chief compliance officer and head of industry relations. In this role, Galligan will lead Mercury's compliance efforts with both internal and external policies and regulations, and will manage Mercury's relationships with its key partners in the payments industry.
Galligan will devote considerable focus to working with Mercury's partner network of more than 3,000 point-of-sale dealers and developers, as well as its merchant network, to assist them with maintaining Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance mandates. She will also lead Mercury's efforts related to compliance with payment network and industry regulations and guidelines. The complex and evolving regulatory landscape for the payments industry drives the need for a corporate compliance officer to navigate ever-changing requirements and facilitate compliance for the company and its partners.
"Pam's extensive payment industry experience and compliance expertise make her a great asset to our company and should lend peace of mind to our partners," said Brett Narlinger, senior vice president of sales for Mercury. "She brings a valuable service to our partner and merchant network and we are lucky to have her on board to share that expertise with them."
Galligan has more than 30 years of significant achievement as an executive and expert in global electronic payment services and information technology. She has worked with both issuers and acquirers in credit, debit and prepaid payment products.
She previously spent 12 years at Visa, which culminated in her leading Global Strategy and Planning. Galligan has also headed electronic payments initiatives at Barclaycard US and at Bank of America. More recently, she was a consultant at the Fotec Group, LLC, where she identified and recommended strategies and acquisition targets for a new merchant services company. Galligan also has served as the CEO of Pacific Payment Technologies, where she personally oversaw the fulfillment of all compliance and regulatory requirements, including PCI/DSS certification.
Galligan will lead compliance efforts throughout the company and work closely with the executive team. She will be responsible for designing and implementing policies and procedures to facilitate Mercury's compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
"The payments industry is an exciting and dynamic sector. Technology changes quickly and so do compliance regulations and guidelines. Compliance is a full-time job and I look forward to lending my expertise to Mercury," said Galligan.
