Palm Beach Improv Jamboree Kicks Off First Year Chicago's Mountain Dawn To Headline

- West Palm Beach-Boca Raton, FL (1888PressRelease) August 09, 2010 - Get ready for a hilarious time as Mod 27 and Florida Improv present the inaugural Palm Beach Improv Jamboree (PBIJ) to be held August 27-28, 2010, at the Duncan Theatre's Stage West. Show times will be at 8:00 PM and 10:00 PM featuring 12 improv troupes that will take you on a roller coaster ride of comedy.
Debuting as headliners for this year's Jamboree will be Mountain Dawn, the Chicago-based improvisational/sketch comedy ensemble who recently performed at the Turner Broadcasting System's (TBS) Just for Laughs Festival in Chicago. The ladies of Mountain Dawn have performed and taught at Chicago's famed Second City, iO Theatre, and at theatres and festivals all over the country. Mountain Dawn will perform Saturday Aug 28th at 8:00PM.
Other performers at PBIJ include local improv comedy troupes from West Palm Beach and Lake Worth, as well as other Florida troupes from Gainesville, Orlando, Jupiter and Miami.
"South Florida has been the breeding ground for many great improvisers throughout the state and the U.S.," says Skyler Stone, co-founder of the festival. "PBIJ gives audiences a chance to see these comic actors in their element, where many of their improv careers started and a chance to get a glimpse of many great improvisors to come."
PBIJ will also feature improv comedy workshops taught by Mountian Dawn. Workshops are available for both newcomers and longtime practitioners of the art of improvisational comedy.
The Palm Beach Improv Jamboree is a 2 day long celebration of improvisational theatre. Our mission is to share the culture and traditions of the up and coming South Florida improvisation scene with the local community. PBIJ is a joint venture of Mod27 and Florida Improv, Inc.
