Palace on Wheels Begins its First Journey for 2012-13 Season
Palace on Wheels - the world renowned luxury tourist train made its first journey for this season last week on 5th September with 54 passengers from around the world aboard. The train will make 34 rounds this year between September'12 and April'13.
- (1888PressRelease) September 12, 2012 - India' first luxury train - Palace on Wheels, run by Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation (RTDC), took its first maiden voyage for 2012-13 to Rajasthan and other prominent tourist destinations in India on September 5th. The train, which started rolling from New Delhi's Sadarjung Railway Station on Wednesday, will conclude its journey on the eight day i.e on 12th September in Delhi itself.
In the first trip, 54 tourists from different parts of the world are traveling on this train. The train has the capacity of carrying 104 passengers at a time. Former Union Minister Motilal Bohra, Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs Mahadeo Singh Khandela and RTDC Chairman Randeep Dhankhar flagged off the train. Various other dignitaries were also present at the event.
The royal train, which started operating from 1982 and pioneered luxury train traveling in India, starts its journey every Wednesday during the months of September to April. The train has 23 coaches comprising of 14 Saloons, a spa coach, two restaurants - Maharaja and Maharani and a reception cum bar.
The train would route across Delhi-Jaipur-Sawai Madhopur-Chittorgarh-Udaipur-Jaisalmer-Jodhpur-Bharatpur-Agra-Delhi during this season.
