You're Invited! Enjoy the sun, sand, blue waters and clear light of southwest Florida in Ft. Myers Beach. The sun is shining and the beaches abound with clean, sugar white sand - a perfect spot for plein air painting the week of November 8-14, 2010.
- Fort Myers-Cape Coral, FL (1888PressRelease) September 07, 2010 - Fort Myers Beach Art Association, Santini Marina Plaza, Fish Tale Marina and The Greater Fort Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce invite all plein air (outdoor) painters to participate in the first plein air painting competition on Fort Myers Beach. Paint the Beach..Sandcastles to Shrimpboats-A Plein Air Festival in Fort Myers Beach, Florida. The painting competition November 8-14 will be held in conjunction with the annual American Sandsculpting Championship and will draw artists from all over to compete for generous prize money provided by Santini Marina Plaza and Fish Tale Marina. First prize is $1000. Second $750. and Third $500. Additional prizes will be awarded for the one day "Quick Draw" competition on November 13.
The artists will choose from various predetermined locations in the Fort Myers Beach Area for three days then will present their finished art for judging by Greg Biolchini, PSA Master Pastelist.
On Friday November 12 prizes will be awarded to the plein air artists at an awards reception and gala at Santini Marina Plaza and the works will be offered for sale in the tent through November 14. On November 13 a one day quick draw competition will be held in the Fish Tale Marina/Sandsculpting area and will be open to students from Beach Elementary School as well.
Entry fee for main plein air competition is $40. and registration must be complete by October 15.
