- (1888PressRelease) November 16, 2011 - PHOENIX, AZ - On Saturday, October 29, 2011, packaging design company, Flexpak Corporation, had a team of over 20 walkers raise more than $1,100 through their participation in the 19th annual American Cancer Society's, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer at Tempe Beach Park in Tempe, Arizona. This year's three-mile walk, attended by the largest turnout in history with over 11,000 people raised an astounding $700,000!
The Pink Walk was a celebration of survivorship, an occasion to express hope, and a shared goal to end a disease that threatens the lives of so many people we love.
"Flexpak has had a team of walkers the last 8 years," said Wanda Guerra, Director of Finance and Flexpak team leader. "We had participation from every Flexpak department. What a great way to spend a Saturday with great weather, friends, exercise and all for a great cause! We give a special thanks to our team members who walked and to all who donated."

More than a walk, the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is a powerful and inspiring event that unites communities to celebrate people who have battled cancer, raise awareness about the steps we can take to help prevent the disease, and raise money to find cures and support programs and services for those facing the disease.
The Flexpak Team's fundraising support enables the American Cancer Society to save lives by:
• Helping people stay well by educating and empowering women to live healthy lives and reduce their risk for breast cancer, and to get screening tests such as mammograms to find breast cancer early, when it is easiest to treat
• Helping people facing breast cancer get well by providing information, day-to-day help, and emotional support to guide them through every step of their breast cancer experience
• Finding cures by investing in and conducting research that leads to groundbreaking discoveries into breast cancer's causes and cures
• Fighting back by working with legislators to support laws that help fight breast cancer and help all women get access to screenings and care
In 2010, more than 800,000 walkers across the country joined the American Cancer Society in our united fight against breast cancer. Together, we raised more than $60 million through Making Strides events - and we did it one donation at a time.
