OZAKI's Stand Case Won Japan's Good Design Award, Set to Exhibit in Tokyo
iPhone5 case O!coat Faagaa has received the prestigious Good Design Award from Japan. It will be showcasing at this year's G-Mark exhibition at Tokyo Midtown between October 30 - November 5.

Faagaa is a case with stand made exclusively for iPhone5. Named after a stylish way to say "do not disturb", the O!coat Faagaa case is designed around a concept about the animals opening their mouths and stick their tongues out to express feelings. The "tongue" hence plays the role of a functional stand, which, when being pressed, can stick out to uplift the iPhone horizontally and vertically for preferred views. In other words, it becomes a handsfree stand for the phone. Most iPhone cases only focus on either functions or appearances, whereas OZAKI successfully combined both to deliver this entertaining and functioned product.
The case comes in 7 different animal shapes, including bear, bird, frog and monkey. The most special point of Faagaa is the creative design to turn a simple function into something that can draws a lot of attention. It can easily help start a conversation when one takes it out from the pocket. Most importantly, the contour of cute animals empowers people with more human interactions, resulting in more fun in everyday life.
Faagaa is one of the many products that demonstrate the "dare-to-be" spirit of the OZAKI brand. "OZAKI hopes to facilitate the growth in Apple accessory industry by doing something out-of-box; therefore, we design things that are expressing people's true inner selves, a tendency making us very different from all other accessory brands," said Myra Chiang, a Vice President at OZAKI. "The purpose of making Faagaa so eye-catching is to call for more social interactions in order to help create a friendlier society," she stressed.
Good Design Award is organized by Japan Institute of Design Promotion. Established in 1957, the Award is a comprehensive program for the evaluation and encouragement of design. The design applicants come from wide range of fields including architecture, project and so forth. The screening is carried out in several of perspectives to select the "Good Design", not only about beauty but also the consideration for the environment, usability and ability of propose to society.
This is not the first time OZAKI has won the Good Design Award. In 2012, three of OZAKI's best sellers were awarded the same honor - O!powow+, O!tool - stylus R, and iCoat slim Y series. The competition has become tougher each year, with this year more than 3000 entries. Only one-third of applicants are awarded, including 10 candidates for Good Design Grand Award, and Good Design Best 100 as the candidates for Good Design Gold Award and other Special Award. The result of Special Award will be announced by November 7.
