The Own It! Entrepreneurial Women's Conference on June 4 at SUNY Ulster will help female entrepreneurs learn to market their businesses using social media and also provide practical assistance and advice on other important areas. The conference will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the college's Stone Ridge campus.
- Poughkeepsie-Newburgh-Middletown, NY (1888PressRelease) April 18, 2015 - Social media, email marketing and branding will be among a full agenda of timely topics by leading expert speakers presented at the one-day conference hosted by the Darlene L. Pfeiffer Center for Entrepreneurial Studies at SUNY Ulster, the Mid-Hudson Small Business Development Center (SBDC), and Ulster Community College Foundation, Inc.
New research shows women business founders are using social media more than men to scale their sales and marketing capabilities, launch new products, communicate with customers directly and humanize their brand.
Women entrepreneurship is on the rise both nationally and regionally - a trend SUNY Ulster is seeing with increased interest in its course offerings, and degree and certificate programs in Entrepreneurship. More than 9.1 million firms are owned by women, employing nearly 7.9 million people, and generating $1.4 trillion in sales as of 2014, according to the National Association of Women Business Owners.
Conference keynote speakers are Diana Kander, an entrepreneur, Senior Fellow at the Kauffman Foundation and author of All in Startup, a NY Times and Wall St. Journal bestseller; and Darlene L. Pfeiffer, a local KFC franchise owner who will share her recipe for success at a luncheon address. Other workshop topics include: values in business, procurement, cash and financing and a panel presentation featuring successful female entrepreneurs from across the Hudson Valley.
The conference also includes networking opportunities, a continental breakfast, lunch and gifts. Cost is $40 in advance and $60 at the door.
