- (1888PressRelease) January 03, 2012 - Outer Banks Real Estate headed by Bill Holt shares the new about the upcoming Frank Stick Memorial Show, an event that every artist and anyone who appreciates art should anticipate. This event will be held at Glenn Eure's Ghost Fleet Gallery on January 28 up to February 24, 2012 from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm.
This year the event will be the 34th Frank Stick Memorial Art Show which will include a huge selection of local fine art varying from realistic to conceptual. All art works displayed are original, featuring drawing, sculpture, painting, pottery, fiber and mixed media. This annual event has been the longest running exhibition of visual art in the whole Dare County.
Frank Stick has been recognized by numerous magazines as an illustrator such as Saturday Evening Post, Ladies Home Journal, Collier's and Outdoor America in the early years of the 20th century. Stick is the most popular in painting more than a hundred scenes of fishing and hunting to illustrate adventure and outdoor stories. Additionally to his artwork contribution, Frank Stick was a man of vision. After his visit in Outer Banks of North Carolina for a surf-fishing trip in 1920s, he became captivated with the region and its potential to be a tourist destination. It was mainly Frank Stick's endeavor that the Cape Hatteras National Seashore was the 1st national seashore in the country.
The Frank Stick Memorial Art Show is open to members of Dare County Arts Council Members and its locals. The opening reception will be on January 29 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm where the voting of the People's Choice Awards will be held. For more information, contact DCAC at 252-473-5558
