- (1888PressRelease) February 07, 2012 - Veteran Outer Banks real estate agent is proudly inviting everyone to attend the 15th Annual Priceless Pieces Quilt Show, which is slated to commence on March 2, 2012 and will be available for viewing until March 24, 2012.
A public reception for the annual show of handcrafted quilts would be held at 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on its first day. The show would be held at Roanoke Island Park, one of Outer Banks' well-known attractions.
The exhibit features both brand new and antique quilts belonging to local collectors from all over Eastern, North Carolina. Both full-sized and mini quilts are available to view during the exhibit. They feature a wide variety of themes that include traditional patterns as well as those inspired by history and nature. In previous exhibits, over eighty quilts had been put on display and with some of them dating as far back as the 1800's. Aside from boasting an amazing array of color combinations, featured quilts also show off impressive applique and embroidery skills.
Quilts are often considered an essential symbol of one's cultural heritage. They may, however, be used for both ceremonial and day-to-day activities. One would see quilts being used to warm infants as often as they are used to cradle injured soldiers during war.
Teacup Quilters remain as the event's primary sponsor and its members would be available to assist and chat with guests starting 10:00 a.m. from Monday to Saturday. On March 24, the last day of the exhibit, Teacup Quilters would also hold its annual raffle for its own handcrafted quilt. Visitors may purchase tickets on site for $1 each or for a discounted rate of $5 for every 6 tickets purchased.
Admission is for free and the show is open to the public from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm during weekdays and 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. during weekends. On March 10, the exhibit will also hold Vender Day and in which visitors together with quilt enthusiasts and collectors may enjoy shopping from a wide selection of quilting fabrics and supplies from the best suppliers in the region.
Those who are visiting the site early should take the time to explore other attractions of Roanoke Island Festival Park, which include a representation of English ship Elizabeth II and a life-size replica of a 16th century settlement.
