Osceola Antiques Reaches its 20 Year Anniversary
Small business celebrates 20 year anniversary in one of Wisconsin's oldest community's.
- Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN-WI (1888PressRelease) January 19, 2012 - From February 10 until close of business on Valentine's Day February 14, Osceola Antiques will be celebrating its 20-year anniversary in a big way. The event will feature a 20%-off storewide sale, free coffee, and gift drawings throughout the event. On Valentine's Day there will be free chocolate for the ladies.
"It will be a great time to see old friends from over the years and make some new ones," said Osceola Antiques owner Jeff Reardon. "It's all about the memories - people come in looking for an item that reminds them of the things they saw in their parents' or grandparents' home. Antiques trigger connections and memories to the past."
The quaint village of Osceola, which was founded in 1844, is located on the Wisconsin/Minnesota border along the shores of the St. Croix River; it is also the birthplace of Craftsman furniture creator Gustav Stickley.
20 years ago, the largest building in downtown Osceola became vacant. Reardon purchased and transformed this historic building into northwest Wisconsin's largest antique mall. "I had been toying with the idea of an antique mall for several years, and I just couldn't bear seeing this great, old building empty," Reardon added. He enjoys being involved in many organizations and events in the area, along with the day-to-day operation of this business.
Not only is this shop a destination for visitors and locals alike, it is also a family company. Reardon's sister, Angie Cottor, has worked for the shop since its opening day. His parents Arlene and Jerry also came to help out after their early retirements, and still do when they are not wintering in Texas. His daughter and son, two nieces, a nephew, and an aunt have all worked at the shop part-time.
Osceola Antiques, located at 117 Cascade Street, features a wide variety of glassware, jewelry, pottery, kitchenware, linens, gifts, books and the region's most extensive collection of furniture and building hardware. The store also features lamps and lamp parts, primitives, toys, art and much more. Antiques aside, there too can be found custom framing, a gift department, and an ice cream & coffee parlor within its walls. This multi-dealer shop boasts over 11,000 square feet and currently has room for a couple of select dealers to enhance its selection.
Reardon is proud of his many dealers; most have been with him for many years. The dealers at Osceola Antiques try to include reasonably-priced, interesting and unusual items to the store. They are always adding to their collections and keeping their spaces tidy and spruced up. "We are constantly told how clean and well-organized this shop is," Reardon noted, "I think the customers appreciate the oldies tunes and the bright, comfortable atmosphere."
The staff and dealers of Osceola Antiques hope lots of folks stop by to visit and wish them well during their 20th anniversary celebration Feb. 10-14. For more information, feel free to call them at 715-294-2886.
