Open Source Projects to Offer Free Cloud Computing Training at Indiana LinuxFest
Cloud.com and Puppet Labs partner to educate users on how to build and deploy virtual infrastructure using free and open source tools.
- (1888PressRelease) March 18, 2011 - Cupertino, Calif. - Cloud.com, sponsor of the open source cloud computing software project CloudStack™, and Puppet Labs, an open source configuration management and automation company, will host a "Build a Cloud Day" workshop on March 25, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Wyndham Indianapolis West Hotel. The free event will be held as part of the education program for the Indiana LinuxFest taking place March 25 - 27 in Indianapolis. The session will be dedicated to teaching attendees how to build and manage their own cloud computing environment using free and open source software. Attendance for the event is open to the public but registration is required.
"Hands-on cloud-building is a great way to see that the cloud is here now and can help you get more work done faster without a lot of upfront investment," said Luke Kanies, CEO of Puppet Labs. "With tools like CloudStack and Puppet, you can build clouds very easily, and at the 'Build a Cloud Day' you'll learn how to do exactly that."
The agenda for "Build an Open Source Cloud Day - Indianapolis" is designed to educate users about the options for using open source software to build and manage cloud computing infrastructure. Cloud.com will demonstrate how to use its open source cloud computing software, CloudStack, to deploy a cloud computing environment to deliver infrastructure as a service (IaaS). Puppet Labs will explain how to deploy infrastructure within the cloud automatically using its popular configuration management solution, Puppet.
"While hype around cloud computing is at a fever pitch, information on how to deploy and manage cloud computing is still rare," said Mark R. Hinkle, VP of Community at Cloud.com. "By providing training on how to deploy cloud computing with accessible tools that are free and open source, we want to empower users to take advantage of cloud computing on their terms. We are very pleased to have the opportunity to partner with Puppet Labs to provide training on this topic to the open source community."
