Open-IX Association Welcomes New Members to Its Board of Directors
Three New Members Appointed During the Association's Annual General Meeting.
- (1888PressRelease) October 09, 2015 - BLOOMINGDALE, MI, USA - The Open-IX Association (OIX), a 501(c)(6) non-profit industry association formed to promote better standards for data center interconnection and Internet exchanges, today announces that two new members and one returning member have been elected to serve on the Open-IX Board of Directors. New additions to the Board are Greg Hankins and Vinay Nagpal and David Temkin, current Chairman and Co-Founder of Open-IX, has been re-elected. The three newly-elected members will serve two-year terms beginning January 1, 2016 and running through December 31, 2017. Election results were revealed at Open-IX's Annual General Meeting held Friday, October 2, 2015 in New York City.
Hankins, Nagpal and Temkin were elected following an open nomination and election process from a candidate pool of Open-IX Association members. They will join existing and continuing Board Members William Charnock, Christian Koch, Chris Malayter and Josh Snowhorn. Board Members whose terms will expire as of January 1, 2016, are Barry Tishgart and Keith Mitchell.

The Open-IX Board is comprised of volunteer representatives from the Internet community, converging to create a better, safer, stronger and fairer Internet. In addition to controlling all aspects of the Association's property, affairs and business, the Open-IX Board of Directors is also responsible for safeguarding the Open Stand compliant standards development that the Internet community has entrusted to it, instituting and conducting the OIX-1 and OIX-2 certification process for Internet exchanges and data centers, and determining whether those entities have met or exceeded the Open-IX minimum standards of performance. The Board is also accountable for establishing and publishing Membership Program policies and procedures, granting Open-IX membership, holding the Annual General and other meetings and delegating to Open-IX Officers and / or Committees.
Organized and operated by volunteers from the Internet, the Open-IX Association aims to increase the reliability, resiliency and competitiveness of massive-scale interconnection for all. With the help of broad participation of interconnect and data center professionals, the association has successfully developed Internet Exchange and data center consensus-based community standards and certified 27 data centers and four exchanges since its establishment in 2013.
