Online Tech Expands Two-Factor Authentication for Secure, Remote Access

Online Tech has teamed up with Duo Security to provide a simple, mobile phone-based authentication method that is much more convenient and easier to use traditional two-factor systems.
The security measure adds an extra layer of protection to their critical files by requiring a secondary authentication method of their choice to achieve network access - by using push authentication, a smartphone passcode, text message or phone call. Normally, a user would use a username and password to log into their VPN, which typically allows access to sensitive data.
"Two factor authentication is one of those items that really covers all facets of the defense in depth model (people, technology, and operations)," said Steve Aiello, Senior Systems Engineer & CISSP at Online Tech. While two-factor authentication has been standard operating procedure for the Online Tech operations and support team, it was only recently that Online Tech decided to extend the service to all colocation, managed server, and cloud hosting clients and implement two-factor remote authentication across the entire company - even outside the operations team.
