Orange County, CA (1888PressRelease) August 18, 2010 - For one weekend only, the nation's top rodeo cowboys, including numerous current World Champions, will be riding into San Juan Capistrano to compete in the 10th Annual Rancho Mission Viejo Rodeo, the Richest Two-Day Rodeo in America!

Scheduled for Saturday/Sunday, August 28 and 29, 2010 at the Rancho Mission Viejo Riding Park in San Juan Capistrano, the Rancho Mission Viejo Rodeo will produce some of the best rodeo action in the nation as more than 30 champions compete in each of the following events: bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, bull riding, tie-down roping, steer wrestling and team roping. "We attract the world's best cowboys to San Juan Capistrano, year after year," said Gilbert Aguirre, Rodeo Committee President and Executive Vice President - Ranch Operations for Rancho Mission Viejo, manager of the historic Rancho Mission Viejo cattle ranch in Orange County. "Champion cowboys Trevor Brazile, Rich Skelton, and Fred Whitfield - who's combined earnings total almost $8.5 million dollars - rarely miss a Rancho Mission Viejo Rodeo and will be competing once again this year. Sanctioned by the Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association (PRCA), the Rancho Mission Viejo Rodeo is held each year in San Juan Capistrano and has earned a reputation as "the place to be" every August as the greatest cowboys gather to compete for their share of the $200,000 purse as they try to secure a spot at the National Finals Rodeo, held every December in Las Vegas, NV.

Among the many highlights of this year's Rodeo will be Cotton Rosser and his Flying U Rodeo Company. Rosser, proclaimed as "The King of Rodeo," will be on hand with what organizers say will be another "spectacular rodeo production." In addition, the Rancho Mission Viejo Rodeo is proud to welcome back Cervi Rodeo Company and Big Bend/The Flying 5 Rodeo Company, two of the largest stock contractors in North America. Serving as Rodeo Announcer will be Bob Feist, a favorite among fans and contestants, and the publisher of Roper Sports News.

In addition to the competition, attendees will be invited to enjoy old-fashioned family fun both days with games, music, a Saturday evening concert with dancing, more than 50 vendors, and entertainment for the whole family!

Aguirre noted that the Rodeo is an important part of the legacy of the Rancho Mission Viejo landholdings, which has been under the stewardship of the O'Neill/Avery/Moiso family since 1882.

"Hosting the Rodeo is our way of sharing our tremendous Western heritage with our South County neighbors," added Aguirre. "The Rancho Mission Viejo Rodeo allows us to keep the cowboy culture alive while honoring the old cowboy tradition of 'passing the hat' in support of a family in need."

This "passing of the hat" tradition is alive and well, as proceeds for this year's Rancho Mission Viejo Rodeo will, once again, benefit local charities and is on course to pass the $1 million mark in contributions. Proceeds from this year's Rodeo will benefit Camino Health Center and The Shea Center for Therapeutic Riding, both in San Juan Capistrano.
The Rodeo will take place at the Rancho Mission Viejo Riding Park at San Juan Capistrano, located at the intersection of Ortega Highway and Antonio Parkway and La Pata, along the western border of Rancho Mission Viejo in South Orange County.

Music - 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Opening Ceremonies - 1:15 p.m.
Rodeo Starts - 1:30 p.m.

Ticket prices are $20.00 for adults on Saturday (which includes admission to the evening concert) and Sunday and $10.00 for children ages 4 to 12. Children ages 3 and under will be admitted to the Rodeo for free.
