One of the largest Architectural Conferences in India 'NICHE-IPM 2016' commenced at LPU

  • (1888PressRelease) November 16, 2016 - His Excellency Ambassador of Togo country Mr Alexandre Kanyi Galley Logosu Teko inaugurated one of the largest architectural conferences in India 'NICHE-IPM 2016 at Lovely Professional University. Indian Institute of Architects (IIA) Chandigarh Chapter and LPU collaborated to organize the conference to carry forward the themes of smart living under urban planning & infrastructure, design innovations and sustainable built environments. Inaugural key-note address of the conference was made by renowned landscape architect of Australia, Mr Matthew Taylor, amid other stalwart speakers & architects from USA, Europe, across India and would be architects from LPU School of Architecture & Design.

    On this occasion, HE Ambassador Teko, President Institute of Town Planners India Dr DS Meshram, LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal, Pro Chancellor Mrs Rashmi Mittal, NICHE-IPM 2016 conference convener Atul Singla, patron Surinder Bahga and chair Sanjay Goel released a souvenir also. Declaring the conference open, HE Ambassador congratulated all the organizers and participants for great endeavours undertaken to contemplate and discuss the critical issues related to the needs and challenges of urbanization. He shared: "With the prime focus to improve quality of life for present and better tomorrow, a movement towards better living and better environments has indeed been initiated through this massive conference."

    While addressing the vast gathering of architects, urban planners and designers; Associate of Australian Institute of Landscape Architects, Ar Matthew Taylor said: "We must create innovative and culturally expressive environments in our architectural designs and planning. We all are one planners and own designs together; in fact, we have responsibilities towards our designs. So, our approach should integrate architecture, landscape and ecology in a sustainable environment. We ought to facilitate community in harmony with nature." Sharing more he admitted: "We in the West have lost concept of nature; however, re-contact with nature is very important as it is always engaging with the senses." Making presentation of 170 pictures from urban world, history, monuments, islands, timber structures and many more, Mr Taylor elaborated his ideas.

    Similarly, one of the oldest architects in India Ar S.D Sharma also forwarded great thoughts about planning and designing for the benefit of modern architect fraternity. Mr Sharma is the founder and senior architect partner, who has been associated with 'Chandigarh Project' since the inception of the city in 1952. He has worked with world famous Architect Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanerette, both of whom were the architects of the beautiful city 'Chandigarh project".
