  • Colorado Springs, CO (1888PressRelease) April 27, 2025 - One Man’s Final Fight: Walking 300,000 Steps a Month to Battle Prostate Cancer and Give Back

A man’s life changed forever at the start of the year when he was diagnosed with borderline stage 2/3 prostate cancer. Faced with the uncertainty of time and an emotional uphill battle, he made a powerful choice not to sit in fear, but to rise with purpose.

With unwavering resolve, he launched the "Steps for Lives" campaign: a personal mission to walk 300,000 steps every month while raising funds for two deeply meaningful causes Macmillan Cancer Support and the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI).

“This cancer may take time from me, but it won’t take away my will to give back,” he says. “If I can turn my struggle into someone else's hope, then it's all worth it.”

    From Diagnosis to Determination
After years of health uncertainty and a difficult diagnosis, the news hit hard. Doctors advised that while treatment could extend his time, it may not change the outcome. But rather than dwell on what’s been taken, he focused on what he still has: strength, a story, and the ability to walk forward literally.
“I’ve had to make peace with a lot,” he shares. “And in doing so, I realized I wanted to spend whatever time I have left making a difference.”

    Why These Two Causes?
Macmillan Cancer Support has stood by him with compassion and care. Their emotional and medical support inspired him to raise funds so they can continue to do the same for others.

The RNLI has a deeper, more personal connection. His grandfather served with the RNLI in Bangor, North Wales, dedicating his life to saving others at sea. Honouring that legacy, he now walks to fund the future of lifeboat volunteers.
“This isn’t just about cancer, it’s about giving back to those who save lives every day, in hospitals and at sea.”

    A Challenge with Impact
The Steps for Lives campaign is more than just a fitness goal. Every step is a statement. Every blister, a badge of courage. His goal isn’t just symbolic, it’s strategic. By walking 300,000 steps per month, he hopes to raise both awareness and funds for treatment, care, and rescue operations.
