Oceanside Author Teaches Writing Courses at Two Local Universities
Award-winning ghostwriter, author, and educator, Andrea Susan Glass of WritersWay, will be teaching writing courses in several North San Diego County universities this Fall.
- Abilene, TX (1888PressRelease) August 30, 2011 - Andrea Susan Glass will be offering several writing classes this Fall to meet the needs of aspiring authors. With the ease of self-publishing and the phenomenal growth of ebooks, more and more individuals and business owners want to write that first book.
"I find people get stuck with the process of writing a book or finding the time," says Glass, who has written and edited more than 100 books and ebooks. "If I can teach them the steps involved and show them how to set a writing schedule, they have a much better chance for success.
More than 75% of all books in bookstores are nonfiction subjects: self-help, how to, business, health spirituality, personal growth, biography, reference, history, gardening, cooking, memoir, and home arts are just some of the topics readers are craving to know more about. Individuals who want to share their knowledge and passions or business owners who want to build credibility and attract clients are all ready to jump on the self-publishing and ebook explosions.
To fill that need, Glass is offering "Writing Nonfiction" at MiraCosta College, 1 Barnard Drive, Oceanside from September 12 through October 10, 2011. The Monday night classes run from 6:30 to 9 pm and are in room 1038. The cost is $90 for the 5-week class which will take aspiring authors through the book planning and writing process, with in-class instruction and time for writing, research, and feedback. By the end of the class, students should have a clear idea of their topic, a working title and table of contents, a chapter structure, and some of the content written. They'll also have a plan and schedule to keep them focused and on course to finish their book successfully. To meet the demand for ebook writing, Glass will also offer a class on ebooks. "People are curious about ebooks," says Glass. "They see people reading them on the Kindle, Nook, and other devices. I heard that Amazon is now selling more ebooks than print books, so the time is right for this class." She'll first present a lecture "All About Ebooks" at the San Marcos Library, 2 Civic Center Drive on Tuesday, September 13 from 6:30 to 8 pm. The free lecture is an introduction to her 6-week course "Write an Ebook: Hands-on Class" which will be held Tuesday evenings, October 4 through November 8, 2011 from 6:30 to 9:00 pm at the CalState San Marcos University campus, 333 S. Twin Oaks Valley Road. The class is $95 and will be held in Markstein Hall 304.
