CA Firm cites six-fold demand for Obama Bobblehead over McCain; could results predict election?

In a survey conducted this week by Winzone, Inc., customers at bobblehead retailer ElectaHead.com/ are purchasing Barack Obama bobbleheads by a 6 to 1 margin over John McCain.
Although recent news polls have shown Obama and McCain in a fairly tight race, current ElectAHead.com tracking data shows Obama bobbleheads are soaring over the GOP nominee. Sales of their bobbleheads on EBay also show a trend towards Obama, although McCain bobblehead sales surged slightly post-convention and continue a slow but upward climb.
ElectAHead's auction statistics also indicate a higher average sales price for Obama bobbleheads, along with fewer bids per unit on McCain.
Election predictions based on political memorabilia sales have long been a source of speculation. One company claims to have successfully predicted the outcome of previous Presidential races based on sales of candidates’ masks. A national bakery organization is currently conducting a voting “poll” based on sales of major party cookies.
Dave Siemienski, Creator of ElectAHead.com, suspects his company’s Obama bobblehead is currently outselling McCain because of the passion of Obama followers. “There is an extremely loyal nature to those who believe in Barack Obama’s politics,” he said. “People get really enthusiastic about him and want to collect anything associated with his campaign.”
Siemienski, a former Cold Stone Creamery franchisee who incidentally coined the company’s nationwide mantra "It's a great day for ice cream," believes McCain bobblehead sales will continue to rise. “McCain bobbleheads will sell when people realize this is the best way to respectfully support his candidacy without the need of getting into painful political debates,” Siemienski said. “When bobbleheads are placed on a desk or counter, they immediately show admiration and respect for the character depicted."
With under 50 days until the November election, buyers and collectors are snatching up ElectAHead.com’s bobbleheads and other items both for historic and future value. Political collectibles traditionally rise in popularity and price over the years, especially those associated with presidential elections.
Siemienski's partner Howard Davidson sees a bit of irony in the whole situation. "Millions and millions of dollars are spent each year on voter polls," he says. "Red and blue states, net gains, gaps, shifts, battlegrounds, " Davidson sighs. "Wouldn't it be fitting if a $19.95 bobblehead accurately predicted our next President?"
