Oakwood Asia Pacific Properties in Tokyo Lend Support to Earthquake Relief Efforts for Japan
Oakwood Residence Aoyama Tokyo Houses Staff of Habitat for Humanity for One Year to Assist in Rehabilitation Efforts for Calamity Victims.
- (1888PressRelease) September 16, 2011 - Oakwood, the most trusted name in serviced apartments worldwide, is providing assistance to Habitat for Humanity's 'Rebuilding Japan' program, supporting those badly affected by the earthquake and tsunami of March 11th.
Oakwood has donated a two-bedroom apartment in Oakwood Residence Aoyama Tokyo to be used as a staff house for Habitat for Humanity personnel leading the 'Rebuilding Japan' program over the next year, worth an estimated 10.5m Japanese Yen (US$130,000) in value.
"The scale of the devastation caused by the earthquake and tsunami means we now have more staff in Tokyo coordinating the disaster response program. The provision of this serviced apartment will mean that we can keep operational costs low and help more people whose lives were washed away earlier this year," says Kelly Koch, Habitat for Humanity regional program manager for northeast Asia.
"Oakwood in Tokyo is very pleased with having this opportunity to collaborate with Habitat for Humanity in providing the support of their housing needs while they are making their effort for much needed work in recovery of the Tohoku region," says Eric Ishimaru, Director of Sales & Marketing for Oakwood properties in Tokyo.
This most recent contribution by Oakwood properties in Tokyo builds upon the long-term relationship with Habitat for Humanity Japan.
Oakwood has also offered the use of 'The Residents' Lounge' at Oakwood Premier Tokyo Midtown as a venue for fundraising events.
Oakwood Asia Pacific has seven properties in Tokyo, including Oakwood Premier Tokyo Midtown, Oakwood Residence Roppongi T-Cube, Oakwood Apartments Roppongi Central, Oakwood Residence Akasaka, Oakwood Residence Aoyama, Oakwood Apartments Shirokane and Oakwood Residence Azabujyuban.
