Oak Meadows Senior Living Community Unveils New Digital Makeover
Oak Meadows, a non-profit senior living community, unveils the new website it won in the "Doggone Worst Website Contest" hosted by the Saint Paul Area Chamber of Commerce and marketing agency Brandography.
- Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN-WI (1888PressRelease) July 10, 2013 - Oak Meadows, a non-profit senior living community in Oakdale, MN, is happy to unveil a new, senior-friendly website. The makeover comes compliments of the "Doggone Worst Website Contest," a competition hosted by the Saint Paul Area Chamber of Commerce (SPACC) and Brandography, a full-service digital marketing firm based in Minneapolis.
The contest called for submissions of "terrible" Twin Cities area websites. The winner, decided by popular vote, would win a free web transformation by Brandography valued at $10,000.
Internally nominated, Oak Meadows was selected as one of the top five "Doggone Worst Websites" and moved to the public polling round. Staff and tenants at Oak Meadows banded together, using social media sites and personal connections to pull in votes. Their efforts met with great success, as the non-profit gained several hundred votes and won by a large margin.
After 45 days, the senior living provider is the proud owner of a redesigned site and revitalized web presence. Oak Meadows received:
• A new web design and logo
• Custom photography
• A digital video tour of the campus
• An intuitive menu bar with re-organized site navigation
• Improved online search engine marketing
• New webpage content for search engine optimization
• A responsive site for mobile viewing
• A Google Adwords account for Pay Per Click campaigns
• Strategy sessions for online advertising and marketing
• Graphic elements designed specifically for senior use
• Publicity via press releases, blog postings, and email newsletters
The new Oak Meadows website is responsive, clean, and readable. Features such as a button to increase font size and carefully chosen coloring make pages optimal for potential and current senior tenants, while a modern feel brings in younger family members who may be primary decision-makers.
Other features, such as a custom photography session and a digital video tour of Oak Meadows, allow visitors to see what the senior living community has to offer. Web content was optimized for search engines such as Google, giving the business more visibility.
"I can't think of anything I don't like about our new website," wrote Kim Prayfrock, Director of Community Relations at Oak Meadows and a key point of contact throughout the transformation. The staff at Oak Meadows hopes the new site will reflect the strong senior community and beautiful facility to Internet visitors.
Oak Meadows is a not-for-profit organization affiliated with the Minnesota Conference of the United Church of Christ (UCC) and a member of the Council of Health and Human Services Ministries of the UCC.
