Nursing School Triples Space at Capitol Plaza in Ewing, N.J.
Levin Management Announces Expansion to 30,000 Sq. Ft. at Retail Property.
- Bergen-Passaic, NJ (1888PressRelease) January 22, 2013 - The Center for Allied Health & Nursing Education, soon to be named Jersey College School of Nursing, has tripled its space at Capitol Plaza in Ewing, announced retail real estate services firm Levin Management. The private, post-secondary institution, which prepares students for careers in the professional nursing field, has been a tenant at the property since 2002.
Levin Management serves as leasing and managing agent for Capitol Plaza, a 357,000-square-foot retail property that also includes the 1001 Spruce Office Center. The Center for Allied Health & Nursing Education, which initially leased 9,000 square feet of retail space at Capitol Plaza, now occupies 30,000 square feet at the property. The organization expanded into contiguous space, including a unit formerly occupied by an auto parts store as well as a portion of the office component.
"Our enrollment has grown significantly, and we are pleased that Levin and Capitol Plaza could accommodate our expansion needs," said Greg Karr, the Center's chief executive officer. "We are a commuter school, and this property offers a number of advantages, including plenty of parking and attractive accommodations, not to mention the benefits of onsite retail and dining. Its easily accessible Ewing location provides a convenient, central setting for our southern New Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania students."
The Center for Allied Health & Nursing Education works to bridge the labor gap occurring in the nursing field by training and preparing competent professionals to enter the job market. It has grown from one campus located in Hackensack, N.J., to five East Coast locations. The Center has more than 1,000 enrolled students and will surpass 2,000 nurse graduates by the end of 2012.
"The Center for Allied Health Nursing is a great example of the many well-established Capitol Plaza tenants who have chosen to locate, stay and grow here," noted Michael Cohen, Levin Management's vice president of leasing. "The company's commitment also reflects the increased, industry-wide presence of 'non-traditional' tenants in retail environments. The expansion is a win-win for Capitol Plaza because it not only absorbs vacant space but will generate more student traffic to support the retailers located here."
Capitol Plaza's tenant roster includes a recently opened Planet Fitness, as well as anchors Marshalls, Save-A-Lot, Harbor Freight Tools, Forman Mills and American Furniture. Other national and regional retailers include Ashley Stewart, Kicks USA, Foot Locker and GNC. Capitol Plaza is also home to a U.S. Armed Forces Career Center. The property's 1001 Spruce Office Center component houses a number of businesses as well.
Celebrating its 60th year in 2012, Levin Management is one of the nation's leading retail real estate services firms, with a strong focus in the northeastern United States and an owner's approach to the business. Today, the North Plainfield, N.J., company offers a full range of services for a diverse 90-property, 12.5 million-square-foot portfolio. These assets include neighborhood, community, lifestyle and power centers, as well as enclosed malls, downtown stores and mixed-use projects in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia and North Carolina.
