There are two categories of deprived communities, one who is excluded from the system and other who although included in the system by still excluded from the entitlement transfer. Institutional Building effort with sustainable development goal is very important. We also must include the bottom 5% of population in to SHG folds, as these households are worst hit of poverty, suffering from starvation, malnutrition or debt induced suicides and mostly excluded from entitlement transfer.”Said Sh.PranabjyotiNath, IAS, State Mission Director, Odisha Livelihoods Mission.

    The programme is hosted by Odisha Livelihoods Mission, Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department, Govt. of Odisha. Representatives of 17participantingstates comprising of the officers of Rural Development, State Mission Directors, Additional Directors and Mission Managershave attended the workshop. In total there are 75 participants. The review workshop was inaugurated by Sh. PranabjyotiNath, followed by a welcome song by SHG members of Gop Block,Puri district.

    In his inaugural address, Sh.PranabjyotiNath reiterated the core objectives of National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM) and the importance of community institutions in it. Focusing on the importance of communication and capacity building in NRLM; he said that “NRLM as a family should realize its strength and capacity to build the nation.”He also enlightened the participants on various initiatives of Odisha Livelihoods Mission and its approach for implementation.

    All the states are assembled here at Konark to reflect upon their performance on social inclusion and institution building component and develop roadmap for the future. The workshop was addressed by other senior officers of MoRD namely Sri Sandeep Sharma, Deputy Director, NRLM; Sri KP Rajendran, Lead, Capacity Building; MsUsha Rani, Lead, IB & HR; Dr. Isha Prasad Bhagabat, Lead, Health;SriDhruv J Sengupata; SriPhiip Mathew etc.
