North Haven's Bria McKiernan Wins Gold at the 2024 ISKA World Kickboxing Championships
Bria McKiernan, a 17-year-old from North Haven High School, recently made history by winning the Muay Thai world title at the 2024 ISKA World Kickboxing Championships in Vienna. Competing for Team USA, Bria became the first athlete from Connecticut to achieve this honor.
- (1888PressRelease) October 30, 2024 - Bria McKiernan, a 17-year-old senior at North Haven High School, has made history by winning the Muay Thai world title at the 2024 ISKA World Kickboxing Championships. Held at the Hallmann Dome in Vienna, Austria, from October 23–27, the event gathered over 1,000 athletes from 34 countries to compete for prestigious championship titles. Bria proudly represented Team USA as the first athlete from Connecticut to do so.
Bria has spent the last four years dedicatedly training and honing her skills with coach Michael Hannon's guidance at Performance Combat MMA in Wallingford, CT. Her hard work and national rankings in kickboxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Judo have all led to this historic world championship win, marking a significant milestone before she steps into the adult division.
