No Ticket... Nevermind : on the 25th Anniversary of Nirvana's Infamous ANU Union Bar Concert
A true account of the night 5th of February 1992, on the 25th anniversary of the infamous Nirvana concert at the ANU Bar Canberra. A night where the doors were ripped off their hinges by the crowd wanting to get in.
- (1888PressRelease) March 05, 2017 - While Canberra's youth was getting first-hand experience of 'the recession we had to have' in 1992 and unemployment hit the double digits, leading to a sharp rise in drug use, the Australian capital proved to be fertile ground for the world's most famous grunge band.
Nirvana's ground-breaking single Smells Like Teen Spirit was at number one on the U.S. charts but the Seattle band was here in Canberra playing a concert at the Australian National University… and yes, all hell did break loose (thanks for asking!). As one of the remaining members of Nirvana, bass guitarist Krist Novoselic, recently told Australia's Triple J radio: ''We played in Canberra at
a school and it was… nuts!"
No Ticket… Nevermind is the story of a 16-year-old tomboy who found her own teen spirit on that sweaty-flannelette night. She'd gone out with one clear intention: to share an incredible experience with her new best friend. What ended up happening was…
so much more.
