Conlee is known for possessing one of the most distinctive and recognizable voices in the industry with a sound that never goes out of style. John Conlee was born and raised in the farmland area of Kentucky. This made a deep impression on him, and one which he credits as to why he is active in Family Farm Defense, as well as Farm Aid along with Willie Nelson. His first career hit was Rose Colored Glasses in 1978. He continued producing hits from 1978 to 1986, seven of which hit #1 on the Billboard chart, including Lady Lay Down, Backside of Thirty, Common Man and In My Eyes. In spring of 2015, Conlee released an emotional single Walkin' Behind The Star, which is a tribute song to those who keep us safe in America.
