Nintendo 3DS Officially Launches In North America
Nintendo 3ds changes the way one views portable entertainment and 3D gaming. After a successful Japan and Europe release, 3DS was launched in the North America on March 27, 2011.
- New York, NY (1888PressRelease) April 05, 2011 - Nintendo 3DS, the next-generation handheld gaming console from Nintendo, has been officially released on Sunday, March 27, 2011 in North America. The device costs $249.99 and strives to introduce portable entertainment in 3D - without the need for special glasses.
"Nintendo 3DS can play 3D video games and take 3D pictures, but that's just the tip of the iceberg." said Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime. "The 3D display is amazing in its own right, but just as compelling are the new forms of game play it delivers, and the groundbreaking ways it will connect players to new content … and each other."
Nintendo 3DS will support 18 3D games at launch, including the Nintendo-published "Steel Diver," "Pilotwings Resort," and "nintendogs + cats" for $39.99 each. Game titles by the third party include: Capcom's "Super Street Fighter 4 3D Edition," Namco Bandai's "Ridge Racer 3D," EA's "The Sims 3," Ubisoft's "Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars," and LucasArts' "Lego Star Wars 3: The Clone Wars."
To celebrate the 3DS launch in North America, Nintendo had held a major launch event in New York City, at the Best Buy in Union Square in New York from 9pm on Saturday until 2am on March 27.Nintendo of America President and COO Reggie Fils-Aime was present in the event to greet the fans and give away the very first 3DS system in the United States. The highlights of the events were - hands-on Nintendo 3DS demos with food, music and giveaways, all leading up to a countdown to midnight, when the Nintendo 3DS went on sale. The The Nintendo 3DS system is now available in Cosmo Black or Aqua Blue.
