Nine Network Australia Goes Live with New National Playout Centre Featuring Harris Corporation Integrated Broadcast Solution
Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), an international communications and information technology company, has delivered a multichannel broadcast content playout solution for the National Playout Centre (NPC) for Nine Network Australia — the broadcaster more commonly known as Channel Nine.
- (1888PressRelease) April 17, 2012 - The new end-to-end, file-based, high-definition (HD) operation simplifies operations by centralizing playout for all of Channel Nine's markets within a single, highly efficient and modern broadcast facility.
Based in Sydney, the new NPC incorporates broadcast content for 18 channels across Australia. The installation represents the last phase of a multi-million dollar refurbishment program across several facilities to implement an integrated, file-based news production and playout solution from Harris. This includes an existing Harris® NewsForce™ HD news production system across four Channel Nine news origination centers in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra and Brisbane.
The NPC project encompasses a range of Harris broadcast infrastructure and workflow technologies for content management and playout. The Harris workflow solution encompasses NEXIO AMP® servers and Invenio® digital asset management software to simplify content ingest, storage and playout; and D-Series™ automation to control the entire playout operation.
The Harris infrastructure solution features a Harris® Platinum™ integrated router to consolidate video and audio processing within the frame, including Harris® HView™ multiviewers — minimizing space requirements, cabling and energy usage. Harris Videotek® test and measurement devices ensure signal integrity for superior on-air quality.
