Nights Are Sizzling This Summer In Chinatown
Explore L.A.'s Cultural Gem Every Saturday this August
- Los Angeles-Long Beach, CA (1888PressRelease) July 22, 2010 - Escape the city heat and venture out at night for this summer's hottest block party. Chinatown Summer Nights takes place every Saturday in August from 5pm - Midnight. The Community Redevelopment Agency of Los Angeles and the Chinatown community have partnered with Community Arts Resources (CARS) to showcase one of L.A.'s most unique neighborhoods. Local NPR-affiliate KCRW is on board as the official music and media partner of Chinatown Summer Nights.
Festival goers can visit their favorite food trucks parked along Lei Min Way and along Chung King Road, kick back and have a Tsingtao at one of the local bars, or learn Chinese cooking techniques from local Chinatown chefs. Dance the night away in Central Plaza to music provided by KCRW DJs, view large-scale video projections, and shop from unique Los Angeles vendors at the LA Craft Experience. Family-friendly activities will be offered from 5 - 8pm through hands-on, Chinese cultural and interactive dance and movement workshops conducted in tandem with local museums, educational organizations, and local performing artists. A Chinatown Summer Nights Discount Program offers discounts to local merchants and restaurants and is available through the Chinatown Summer Nights website.
Chinatown is an exciting and vibrant neighborhood with much to offer to Angelenos," says Katie Bergin, Executive Director of Community Arts Resources. "We are thrilled to showcase local merchants and restaurants through the cooking demonstrations and the Chinatown Summer Nights Discount Program. There is something for everybody."
Chinatown Summer Nights is free and open to all ages. All activities and demonstrations will be held in Chinatown, Los Angeles (Between Broadway & Yale Street, from College Street to Bernard Street) August 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th from 5pm - Midnight.
