Nicole Berke is moving along, planning her second release, NUMBERS, while singing out to the world with John Craig and the Weekends.
- Portland-Vancouver, OR-WA (1888PressRelease) July 29, 2011 - Singer, pianist and songwriter Nicole Berke is one of the new breed of young indie artists whose musicianship and song content is both mature and refreshing. This summer, she heads out on a west coast tour, as part of John Craig and The Weekend as they begin promoting the soon to be released NUMBERS CD. Berke is the band's keyboardist and back-up vocalist and is also featured on two of the ten tracks, "Sink or Swim" and "Love I'm After" where she shares the vocal spotlight with fellow Oregonian, the talented John Craig. Berke will also be the opening act in a few cities including at Molly Malone's in Los Angeles on Saturday, September 3rd. The tour starts Thursday, August 11th in Tacoma, Washington at the New Frontier Lounge. Berke is also a headliner on the main stage at Portland's prestigious Bite of Oregon Festival on Saturday, August 13th.
Meanwhile Berke is busy in Portland, planning the budget for her next release. Berke plans to create a Kickstarter Campaign that will coincide with her touring schedule to help build support for what promises to be a pivotal recording in her young career. There are plans to start recording later this year. This time Berke is intending to release a full CD as the follow up to her 2008 critically acclaimed five song debut CD FRONDESENCE. Last summer Berke joined Kiernan McMullan on his east coast tour as both an opening act and part of his show and was able to taste first hand, life on the road.
Since relocating permanently to Oregon from Massachusetts after college graduation in 2010, she has become a regular in the Portland live scene and is collaborating on several other projects with fellow indie artists on studio projects. Berke was invited to perform at the University of Wyoming in March of 2011 and they were so impressed by her performance that they have invited her to return again this year on October 26th; this time, they invited her with her band. The band is a trio which consists of bass and drums with Berke handling keyboards and vocals. Berke continues to craft and hone in on what she is defining as reflective-soul, a unique style that highlights her musical tastes, lyrical content and personality. Her singing prowess and deep lyrics have reached fans on a personal level and that fan base is growing rapidly as she sings about growing up, fitting in and expanding one self, in a world that is constantly changing.
