Newmarket International Excels in Green Business Certification
NewmarketŪ International, Inc. of Portsmouth, N.H., has achieved platinum level through the Green Business Bureau's green certification program.
- Houston, TX (1888PressRelease) August 23, 2011 - The leading business service provider in the global hospitality industry, Newmarket International is recognized by the Green Business Bureau (GBB)for its outstanding commitment to conserving the environment and for adopting principles and practices that demonstrate the ability to operate in a green manner.
The GBB provides national, third-party green business certifications for businesses that strive to reach sustainability, save money and improve the environment. Newmarket International continues to build on the green platform that they've built through sustainability practices.
"When we joined the Green Business Bureau in 2010, we had been developing and implementing sustainability programs for three years," says Matt Matt Courtland, Green Committee Chair for Newmarket International. "Many of the projects we created were aligned with GBB tasks and gave us credit toward Platinum certification. Being Platinum certified has allowed us to say with confidence that our sustainability programs are validated and effective green initiatives."
Newmarket International chose the GBB's green certification program because it is a nationally recognized program. In addition, members of the GBB represent a wide array of industries.
"GBB is proud to recognize Newmarket International's contributions to making the environment a healthier place for its customers, employees and community," says Marcos J. Cordero, LEED AP and CEO of GBB. "The added benefits of green certifications are cost-savings, increased ROI and increased marketing opportunities that companies receive when implementing green practices."
According to Courtland, Newmarket International saves approximately $60,000 annually from the green programs they have implemented, such as the elimination of plastic and Styrofoam kitchenware, using electronic shipping methods and decreased paper usage.
"Newmarket International has helped to reiterate that going green does provide cost-savings when implemented properly," says Cordero.
