New Yorkers Compete to Raise Money to Find Cure for Cancer and Vie for Title of Man & Woman of the Year

  • New York, NY (1888PressRelease) March 11, 2011 - The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) New York City Chapter today announced 12 candidates who will compete in an inaugural campaign, Man & Woman of the Year (MWOY). The candidates have 10-weeks from March 10 and May 19 to raise money for LLS through individual fundraising campaigns. The male and female candidate who raises the most funds will be awarded the title of New York City's Man & Woman of the Year.

    LLS's MWOY candidates are nominated by their social and professional peers to compete to raise the most money in honor of local pediatric cancer patients, the Boys & Girls of the Year. By accepting the nomination, candidates will have 10 weeks raise a minimum of $20,000. Their totals are then considered for the national title.

    "We are thrilled to launch the Man & Woman of the Year Campaign in New York," says Michele Przypyszny, Executive Director of LLS NYC Chapter. "While each candidate conducts their own campaign, all candidates are united by one goal: to use their leadership skills to raise funds to help blood cancer patients live longer and more fulfilling lives."
