An award-winning interior designer with more than 25-years of experience, James Charles founded DesignerAtHome.com in response to consumer requests for access to affordable, high-quality home design services.

“Hiring an onsite interior designer typically costs thousands of dollars,” says Mr. Charles. “I’ve developed an easy-to-use online system that allows consumers everywhere to have their rooms professionally designed for a fraction of that cost.”

To obtain DesignerAtHome.com’s professional interior design services, a client first completes a proprietary online questionnaire developed by Mr. Charles to elicit the specific information he and his design team will need to successfully complete the custom room design.

The client then follows online instructive videos to take room and furniture measurements and photos, and sends the information to DesignerAtHome.com in Long Beach, California.

Within two weeks of receipt of all information, DesignerAtHome.com sends the client a unique, detailed color board for each room that includes paint, fabric and furniture recommendations, as well as a space plan layout and instructions for the implementation of their designs.

About James Charles

Born and raised in London, Mr. Charles apprenticed with Roche Bobois in the early 1980s, traveling to Paris and Milan to learn the art and trade of design while developing his own distinctive style.

In the late 1980s, he opened Roche Bobois USA in Atlanta, and subsequently opened additional stores in several US cities including Los Angeles.

While teaching at the Interior Design Institute (IDI) in Los Angeles in 1994, Mr Charles opened his own successful design practice at James Charles Design, Inc.
