New Website Launches to Help Teachers Save Year-Round
Teacher Appreciation Week is right around the corner (May 2-6), and while a number of brands will be offering great discounts and freebies throughout the week, one company has set out to help teachers save year-round.
- New York, NY (1888PressRelease) April 30, 2016 - Launched this week, TeachersPrice.com is set to help educators save at more than 8,000 stores across the U.S. With local, national and online discounts right at their fingertips, teachers, faculty and staff can easily save on school supplies, clothing, technology, meals and more.
Educators Subsidize Education
According to a recent study by the NPD group, 91% of today's teachers pay for school supplies with their own money. Indeed, the 2013 NSSEA Retail Market Awareness Study found that public school teachers spend $1.5 billion of their own money on school supplies annually.
But it's not just the teachers who dig into their own pockets. "It seems that everyone involved in education goes into their own pocket to help students out," Corrigan notes. NEA Today, the newsmagazine of the National Education Association, found that 66% of education support professionals (administration, bus drivers, custodians, lunchroom staff, secretaries, security guards and skilled trades people) dig into their own pockets to help students, spending an average of $216 per year.
About TeachersPrice.com & TUN
Teachers Price is an outgrowth of TUN.com, a student discount website that helps college students save on everything from pizza to textbooks. Founder and CEO Peter Corrigan notes: "As we grew our student discount business, we came to the realization that there is a need to help educators save as well." Corrigan observes that "Many businesses recognize this too and want to help by offering Educator Discounts. We have also been able to convince a lot of local businesses to extend their student discount to educators."
Teachers Price is dedicated to helping educators save, rewarding them for their hard work and generosity.
TUN's mission is to help college students save through its free mobile app "TUN Student Discounts" and website TUN.com. In addition to helping students save at more than 16,000 merchants nationwide, TUN offers scholarships and rewards, and also helps them get the cheapest books via its Textbook Save Engine.
