New Website Celebrates the Memories of Iconic Grossinger's Hotel in the Catskills
For much of the 20th Century, Grossinger's, the Catskills resort hotel, was renowned for its all-welcome hospitality, celebrity-chocked entertainment, and traditional, kosher dining. Now, 30 years after its closing, a new website features an overflowing archive of photos, videos and anecdotes celebrating the great Grossinger's hotel.
- (1888PressRelease) July 07, 2016 - The memories of Grossinger's continue to be refreshed, even as the renowned and fabled hotel and resort of the Catskills has been closed for 30 years.
A new website, ElaineGrossinger.com, shares dozens of photos, videos and descriptions of the place that became a popular destination where politicians, movie stars, entertainers, aristocrats and social guests all intermingled in a joyous celebration of food, recreation, hospitality, and fun.
Elaine Grossinger Etess, the former executive vice president of the resort and daughter of legendary hotelier Jennie Grossinger, has completed the comprehensive website that recalls the halcyon days of the iconic hotel.
The website enables all visitors to share their anecdotes and experiences.
The purpose of the new website, according to Ms. Etess, is to keep the Grossinger's memories flowing.
"Since the hotel closed in 1986, I continue to hear from people all over the world who have visited Grossinger's at some time during their lifetime. Grossinger's has made an indelible impression on the minds of many, and the website just helps them enjoy the memories," says Ms. Etess.
Jennie's daughter has also published a YouTube channel entitled "Remembering Grossinger's," a collection of interviews with former celebrities and guests who frequented the Catskills resort hotel. The videos, which can be reached directly from YouTube or by a simple, graphic link inside the new website, offer a wide array of anecdotes, stories and perspectives of the famed hotel and its staff and guests.
"It's truly amazing how vivid people's memories are about the hotel, the staff, and the celebrities that stayed at Grossinger's," Ms. Etess adds. "The website is a great stopping place to relive some of those memories."
Elaine Grossinger Etess continues to speak at a variety of venues and functions about the unforgettable Grossinger's hotel and its role in American hospitality during the 20th Century.
