at Largest Choir.
- Washington, DC-MD-VA-WV (1888PressRelease) May 09, 2018 - A new Washington D.C. festival is attempting to make history.
The inaugural National Heritage Festival will attempt to bring together the Largest Choir Ever Assembled and is calling for choirs to participate now.
The National Heritage Festival will take place from Sept. 21-23, 2018, around the nation’s capital. The festival is meant to be a celebration of unity, held to commemorate the 155th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation.
Choirs from across the country are key to the celebration. During the festival, they will perform at various locations throughout Washington D.C., as well as in Maryland and Virginia. The highlight, however, will come on Sunday, Sept. 23, at the Lincoln Memorial, when all of the choirs will join together to form the National Heritage Festival’s Old Glory Choir, singing praise and patriotic songs.
At this gathering, organizers will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the Largest Choir Ever Assembled. The current record was set in 2016 by Iglesia Ni Cristo in the Philippines with 21,262 people.
The choir will be directed by Craig Smith of Rising Zion Baptist Church in Jeffersonton, Va. To participate, each member of the choir must purchase the official National Heritage Festival robe, stole and T-shirt. To register, click here.
But the choirs are not the only aspect of the festival. The event will feature inspirational speakers and musical performers, as well as pastors and clergy from across the country leading prayers.
The event is open to all to attend. For more information, visit www.nationalheritagefestival.us.
