New Video Surveillance System for Bates County Sheriff's Office and Law Enforcement Center
Midwest Digital Systems of Kansas City and the Bates County Sheriff's Office and Law Enforcement Center have recently concluded the installation of a new hybrid video surveillance system.
- (1888PressRelease) December 09, 2011 - Overland Park, Kansas - This custom designed security system included the use of Arecont HD digital cameras and exacqVision recorders. The upgraded video management system consolidated multiple platforms, improving video quality and storage for the department while significantly improving overall jail security.
With tight budgets becoming the norm everywhere, local governments and law enforcement agencies are feeling squeezed between reduced revenues and increased expectations for services. It is no different in Bates County, where the Sheriff's Office and accompanying Law Enforcement Center are required to maintain a high level of safety and security with limited fiscal resources. When the department found their hodge-podge mix of systems and recording platforms in need of a serious overhaul, Bates County requested bids on the redesign and installation of new cameras, recording equipment, support and training with a serious understanding of budget constraints.
After weighing the advantages of the various bids, Bates County awarded the contract to Midwest Digital Systems whose competitive bid, detailed installation plan, expertise and resources guaranteed success. To reduce costs Midwest Digital Systems proposed a hybrid design, using analog cameras wherever possible, but when higher resolution was needed, Arecont megapixel digital cameras would be utilized. This hybrid design allowed all of the video to be stored on the same exacqVision recorders, increasing the amount of video storage and improving the overall quality of their existing analog images as well. They were even able to upgrade the microphones in interview and booking rooms, improving the quality of audio recordings there.
Midwest Digital Systems dealt expertly with the unique challenges of installing in a jail environment. Major Jason Lawrence the Jail Administrator said, "It went smoother and quicker than we anticipated and they were very respectful of the job we have to do on a daily basis as well as doing a great job not to interfere." The Bates County Sheriff's Office and Law Enforcement Center experienced a professional installation and is now able to provide improved security within budget and ahead of schedule. As Chad Anderson, Bates County Sheriff put it, "I do appreciate your work inside our facility and would recommend you and your company to others."
