New Vice Chair Of Finance & Leasing Association Helps To Challenge Perceptions Of The Credit Industry
The Finance & Leasing Association (FLA) today announced Gerald Grimes appointment as vice-chair of the Consumer Finance Division committee.
- (1888PressRelease) October 23, 2010 - The FLA is the UK's leading trade association for the consumer credit sector and the largest organisation of its type in Europe. Mr Grimes will play a key role by joining the FLA in lobbying the government on behalf of the consumer credit industry. Mr Grimes brings a wealth of experience to the role via his current position as divisional managing director at Hitachi Capital Consumer Finance and diverse retail finance knowledge, having previously worked for GE Capital and The Funding Corporation.
Mr Grimes, who will take on the vice-chair role with immediate effect, and move into the chair position in March 2011, said: "With FLA members providing over £2.3 billion in consumer finance agreements in the twelve months to July, this year, I am looking forward to helping the FLA to promote confidence in consumer credit as part of a sustained economic recovery in the UK.
"With major changes to improve credit provision via the consumer credit directive, planned for early next year, I want to use this opportunity with the FLA to really challenge perceptions of the finance industry. I want to actively encourage more retailers to get on board with the FLA and ensure we have an even stronger voice to make a positive impact for the retail sector.
"With initiatives such as the recently launched FLA 'Good Credit' campaign, which aims to improve the level of understanding of the credit market amongst politicians and government officials, I feel the FLA is in a fantastic position to influence key policy decisions."
Gerald Grimes is available for interview and, in his role as managing director of Hitachi Capital Consumer Finance and manages £1 billion consumer credit available to the market.
