  • Myrtle Beach-Conway-North Myrtle Beach, SC (1888PressRelease) April 19, 2012 - The 2012 NGA Pro Golf Tour schedule already boasts a plethora of courses that have hosted more combined PGA, LPGA, Nationwide and Champions Tour events and USGA and NCAA Championships than any other tour in the history of developmental golf.

With the recent addition of the Country Club of South Carolina in Florence, S.C, to the 2012 slate, the NGA Tour continues to show why it's the No. 3 Men's Professional Golf Tour in the United States and the No. 1 recommended developmental tour by PGA and Nationwide Tour Professionals.

From 1991 to 2000, the Country Club of South Carolina served as host to the Nationwide Tour's Carolina Classic. On August 20, 2012, the newest generation of future PGA Tour stars will tackle the pristine, 7,000-plus yard course.

"The main purpose of the NGA Tour is to prepare our players to move on to the Nationwide and PGA Tours," said Robin L. Waters, NGA Tour President. "By adding another top-notch course like the Country Club of South Carolina, our players will have yet another opportunity to prepare themselves for the next level."

Hugh Royer III, a longtime NGA Tour member, picked up his first Nationwide Tour victory in 1993 at the Country Club of South Carolina and believes the event will be an instant success.

"It's really good that the NGA Tour is going to play there," said Royer, a four-time Nationwide Tour winner. "There was always a great atmosphere there and the course is a great venue for the tour. The kids hit it so far these days length won't be an issue, but the course gives you so many different looks. The par-3s are fantastic. Playing the par-3s and par-5s well is going to be the key to winning."

In addition to Royer, former NGA Tour members Charlie Rymer and Tom Lehman are both past champions of the event as well.

"Russell Glover, our Director of Golf, and I are ecstatic to have the NGA Pro Golf Tour at The Country Club of South Carolina," said John Thomas, Country Club of South Carolina Head Golf Professional. "This will be our first year hosting the NGA Pro Golf Tour, but CCSC has a long history of hosting fantastic professional and amateur tournaments. We couldn't be more excited to bring such an exceptional tournament to Florence, South Carolina! Our members and the staff here are very excited about joining in to make this a truly special experience for the NGA Tour players, NGA staff and surrounding community; it's a true pleasure to join in this relationship. The NGA brings the highest caliber of gentleman to town with this event and all the staff here at the Country Club of South Carolina and all of its members cannot wait to welcome everyone to Florence in August."
