  • (1888PressRelease) June 07, 2013 - It was by chance that Capt. William Simpson, one of the stars of the National Geographic hit series Doomsday Preppers, met Rob Underhill, a producer, director, and writer who has exploded onto the movie scene with two successful feature films: 'The Carrington Event' and 'Dar He': The Lynching of Emmett Till. He has also recently completed filming 'Box Brown', the incredible story of Henry "Box" Brown, an American slave that mailed himself to freedom in 1849

Both Underhill and Simpson were recently featured in back to back stories by the Inquistr magazine, which led Simpson to Underhill given their common interests in solar events, such as the Carrington event of 1859.

In addition to completing his book 'The Nautical Prepper' (Ulysses Press), which is expected to hit booksellers this August, Simpson had been working on another book titled 'Bunker Diaries'.

'Bunker Diaries' is a gripping post-apocalyptic dramatic fiction dealing with the struggles of a family who's sanity is tested as they are forced to take shelter and survive in their underground bunker as Zombies overtake their neighborhood after a nuclear attack on the U.S.

In addition to that project, Simpson has been working on an idea for a reality TV show 'Missionary Wars', which is based upon the real-world problems of the peoples in the island nation of Kiribati. Set in the middle the most picturesque tropical islands, a daily struggle ('war') is waged against death itself as teams of NGOs brave the elements and logistical nightmares trying to save the lives of the indigenous peoples of these islands as death haunts even the children.

Convinced of the value of these projects, Underhill joined Simpson and the team is moving forward on both projects, which are in the pre-production phases at this time. Underhill and Simpson first announced their plans on a recent American Preppers Network radio show:

"We are currently seeking and talking with potential financial partners for these two exciting projects. In addition to funding, we are also seeking sponsors for the equipment that will be used for the two shows; such as a bunker and other equipment for use with 'Bunker Diaries'; and solar panels, water purification systems, desalination plants, communications and other infrastructure for 'Missionary Wars', equipment that is desperately needed on these primitive and remote islands and which will be used on-air. Our target markets for the two pilot shows are networks such as; National Geographic, Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, A&E Television Network and Turner Network Television (TNT)." - said Capt. Simpson.

"I was thrilled to meet Bill, a skilled writer, weaving compelling dramatic stories in similar lines to my TV series project, 'The Carrington Event'. 'Bunker Diaries' will be a nail biter and a powerful vehicle for public awareness. Folks just don't know how fragile our technologically driven civilization is! And 'Missionary Wars' is akin to my work directing 'Dar He': both seek not only to expose social problems, but also to do something about them, while teaching through the power of entertainment." - said Underhill
